(abstract of the article included in the private area at "www.manricoducceschi.it")) We have given a brief sign of the environment in which has operated the XI Zone Patriots and of the actions developed in Lima Valley . in the first part of June 1944; we will omit every other news related to the following war activity of the Band, to underline a fact that would not have importance if the victim had not been a character ­ of relief. As we have remembered, the operational order emanated by the general Alexander June 6, 1944 prepared besides «to hit Germans ­ and fascists anywhere, with any mean and to interrupt or however to especially hinder the transit of military convoy on the roads of great communication». On June 8, two days after the order, when the road no. 12th were disconnected by the explosions of the mined bridges, and when the German trucks were attached with hand-bombs by the patrols displaced ­ in forced points, a car of the Japanese diplomatic Body remained involved in the story of war. Stopped by one of these patrols of patriots which was hindering the German military transit with road nails and actions to fire in the place «Pits of the Affrico» next to the I cross Abetone, Middle Italy, the car immediately stopped. The driver, immediately separated the obstacles on the road, he stopped the car, jumped out and surrendered him to the patriots declaring to be Italian. He drew near the patriots with the lifted hands and said them to acted with extreme rapidity ­ because the car were transporting  elevated degree’s officials and military documents of great importance. In that brief instants the Japanese officers ­ perceived the presence of the patriots, one of them tried to run away the car,; it happened an immediate action of fire that hurt the fugitive ­ and hit to died the other officer.­ The killed man was the rear-admiral Toyo Mitunobu, employed naval Japanese in Italy ; was going to Merano for a naval Lecture of the Three party government, together with his assistant head Yamanaka. This last was ­ wounded but he succeeded in entering the forest that coasts along road and, as it was subsequently learned, he could save.­ Piano Sinatico being reached­, afoot where he phoned asking help to the ­ German ­ Command ­ of San Marcello Pistoiese. In the meantime it was about to arrive a German truck line and the patriots held convenient to ­ take possession some weapons set inside the car and the purses of the two officers following the suggestion of the driver, who had declared that the purses contained documents of great importance.­ To the Command of the XI Zone, the officers, examined the documents, they handled to transmit to the Allies the information that immediately revealed of enormous tactical and strategic importance. The driver, who was native ­ of the Alto Adige, was left free and able to return to his country of origin. After the precious informations radio broadcasted by the Xl Zone Patriots ­ the Command of the V American  Army held in great consideration the partisan Formation: understood the strategic value of the zone in which this operated, made to immediately intervene the aviation support of fighters in the following days, and being always ­ considered with great respect its commander Manrico Ducceschi «Pippo>, This, concluded the clandestine operational period, granted to continue the operations up to the conclusion of the Country ­ in Italy to the command of seven hundred men that Battalion formed Italian Patriots «Pippo» who operated, with autonomous command­, on the front of the Gothic Line from October 6, 1944 up to the Spring 1945. The Formation was dismissed with the honor of the weapons and his commander was granted by the «Bronze Star» on  the U.S. President motu proper. As we have said, from the car of the Japanese, many important documents had been recovered and immediately transmitted to the allied Command:­  they concerned the behaviour of the naval war and they resulted precious to the Allies, above all in the operational Theatre of the Mediterranean , but also for the Pacific area. It was only held back a document note with personal opinions of the rear-admiral Mitunobu in order to the war in Italy from 1940 to 1944. Unfortunately we are not able to offer biographical news a documented curriculum of his/her writer. The note was preserved in the Historical file of the Freedom Voluntary and subsequently deposited in the file of the National institute for the History of the Movement of Liberation in Italy, datable to February 15, 1944 in base to a pencil annotation on the original one of the same document (me). It deals with a historical and psychological document, separated in five parts, that covers again today still notable interest. In the first part, entitled her reason for the collapse of Italy from the war point of view, the rear-admiral it manifests acute criticisms on the times and on the ways and intervened in the conflict which has conducted the military operations in the basin Mediterranean . In the second, political reason for the collapse of Italy , the Japanese  rear-admiral show to believe that at the base of the military failures of Italy has to seek him considerations of wrong political choices that have overlapped to real war demands.
